How does the sync from a remote server is done?

Hi,

I have finally managed to auth and enroll users to courses using an external database.

If the user log in then all happens correctly,

If I ran the sync.php file, all the enrolled user in the remote system are being enrolled and register to moodle,

But how does the sync working exactly?

Is going every time over all the users?
