NTLM SSO - IE Compatability View

by Conn Warwicker.

Having an odd issue, previously we had our Moodle setup to only use https on the login page, and the rest of the site was http.

I changed this a few days ago, so the config url is now https, the https on login only setting is now disabled, there is an apache redirect on http to send users to https.

All seemed to be well, but then I realised that in IE our SSO was broken, giving the error:

401 Authorization Required

This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required.

After some playing around, i discovered that removing the domain from IE's Compatability View list, and unticking "display intranet sites in comaptability view" fixes it. However this is proving to be a bit of an issue getting these changes pushed out to every internal user of IE, and I'm also not sure if its going to break any of our other internal sites.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? Or does anyone have any idea if there is something in Moodle or something on my server (linux) that could be causing this, so we don't have to either force these changes into every users browser and potentially break other things, or give up the use of https across the whole site?

Moodle 3.1

IE 11

If you need more info, let me know.

Cheers
